On December 20–21, as part of the 3rd Sound of Music Australian International Art Festival 2026 (North America Division), the Master Series Concert presented a
distinguished program featuring internationally active artists and composers.
Renowned composer Tianci Lu collaborated with violinist Peiwen Su to present the world premiere of Lu’s latest work, Fading Colors (Composer: Tianci Lu).
The composition consists of two movements: I. In Diminishing Light II. Light Again
The premiere was met with enthusiastic audience response and critical acclaim. Listeners described the performance as beautiful and elegant, highlighting its strong
emotional expression and compelling narrative arc. The work was praised for its lyrical writing and sophisticated harmonic language, as well as for the composer’s
highly developed compositional technique. Particular attention was drawn to the wit and brilliance revealed through the refined textural dialogue between piano
and violin.
The concert also featured Invited Pianist Chengcheng Ma, who performed Frédéric Chopin’s Études, Op. 10, Nos. 1, 2, and 12. Chengcheng Ma has appeared as a
soloist with Sinfonia da Camera, the Brookline Symphony, the Boston University Symphony, and the Hebei Symphony, with repertoire ranging from Beethoven and
Brahms to Ravel and Corigliano. He has premiered works by Ketty Nez and Rodney Lister and appears on the 2025 album OF MERE BEING. Equally active in jazz,
he has performed and lectured on Harlem stride piano and collaborated with Boaz Sharon, with whom he has also studied. Recent engagements include solo recitals
in Boston, New York, and at the University of Mary, as well as orchestral performances as a member of the Longwood Symphony.
Violinist Peiwen Su, known for her artistic vision and dynamic stage presence, has been featured in multiple international magazines and has participated in
collaborations within the Hollywood music industry. She holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s
degree from Oberlin Conservatory. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the CYMC International Music Festival, where she continues to champion young
artists and innovative programming.
Ziwei Xu, Honorary Artistic Director of the festival, is the organizer of the Australia International Music Competition and leads the event with a strong artistic vision
and commitment to global cultural exchange. An accomplished pianist, he has performed extensively across four continents, with engagements in China, Russia,
the United States, South Korea, and Australia. His performances have taken place in distinguished venues including Emerson Theater, Harvard University’s Lehman
Hall, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Boston City Hall, Federation Square (Australia), Sydney Conservatorium Recital Halls, SAMICK Concert Hall and
Seoul Seil Art Hall (Korea), Rachmaninoff Hall and the St. Petersburg Conservatory Grand Hall (Russia), the St. Petersburg Music Hall, the St. Petersburg Conservatory
Concert Hall, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, among many others.
